The cute little things they say..

I really have to be more consistant with recording the adorable things the boys are saying.  So although these are random, they are simply imperative...

*When asked what Dominick wanted for his birthday he replied, "Well, I really was hoping for coal for Christmas, but I didn't get it.  I want to start a rock collection!"

*An infomercial comes on and Dylan perks up, "I wanted that my whole life!!!"

*When speaking to a teller at the bank, Dominick rolls down the window and declares, "Excuse me I have money in there too, and you forgot to give me a debit card so I can spend it!"

*Books are good, usually. Unfortunantly, Dylan missed the humor and took it as fact:
"Dylan, what does a cow say?"
"Mooooo."
"Excellent!  What does a dog say?"
"Ruff ruff!"
"Yes, and what does a pig say?"
"La La La."

*As we a returning from church with my Mom we pull onto a road where someone is selling something.  Behind them is a huge pile of rocks for road construction.  As we turn the corner I ask, "What are they selling?"  Dominick answers, as he is obviously annoyed by my ignorance, "Rocks."

Psalm 139:13-18

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous - how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!

Just when you think you know everything...

Dominick has been grinding his teeth while he sleeps for the past three weeks.  Not just grinding, but something that sounds like each tooth is being painfully broken from the gum.  It is so loud that you can hear it in the next room.  At first, I thought maybe he is stressed out about something.  I let it go on hoping that perhaps one day, I would not have to spend money on a therapist due to my emotional neglect.

Today, I decided it was high time to call in the dentist.  After inserting my fingers in his mouth three times last night to avoid permanent damage, I knew this was beyond the stress of a 5 year old.  The dentist sweetly told me that he gets at least three calls a day and this is totally normal.
Apparently, his 6 year molars are coming in.  This is a natural way the body adjusts to the growth  and change of his mouth.  It actually helps the molars fall into place, so that the jaw will expand to accomodate his upcoming permanent teeth.
Of course...I knew there had to be a good explanation.  And just when I thought I had this "Mommy knows it all" thing down.

My Superhero

The little child I once felt fluttering deep within,
Is growing, changing, and rearranging all the things that have been.

He has an imagination that colors this bland world,
And when he sees any kind of bean his little lip will curl.

He is a self-declared genius with super powers..it's true,
His friendly personality's obtained by very few.

The smile he bears can light up a room with just one passing glance,
And his eyes so blue when looking through, will put you in a trance.

To give this life his very best my explorer has all he needs,
And everyday in God's gentle way he reminds me we are lucky indeed!.

To be a part of this life that is so intentional and pure,
Just watch as this boy discovers some exotic cure.

The sky is the limit, no river is too deep,
Dominick my optimist knows no hill is ever too steep.

So fly my little sparrow may you strengthen your wings,
This is an amazing journey full of life's everythings!
